Navigation in Mathematical Documents

چکیده

Mathematical documents are not only hard but fun to write, they are equally hard but fun to read. Unfortunately, the “fun” part comes only in, when one has mastered the art of using mathematical vernacular and grasped all relevant context dimensions. Even though this seems an immanent issue for mathematical authors only, it is also for mathematical readers. In this paper, we argue for the need for more reader assistance in mathematical documents. In particular, we believe navigation to be a top candidate in this regard. Thus, we elaborate design opportunities for (semantically) helping the reader to navigate, which we anchor around the PlanetMath website.

Improvement of Navigation Accuracy using Tightly Coupled Kalman Filter

In this paper, a mechanism is designed for integration of inertial navigation system information (INS) and global positioning system information (GPS). In this type of system a series of mathematical and filtering algorithms with Tightly Coupled techniques with several objectives such as application of integrated navigation algorithms, precise calculation of flying object position, speed and at...

Improved Navigation through Extended Xml Links

The paper describes a browser that processes XLink links in XML documents. It creates a navigation chunk of hyperlinks dynamically for a connected user’s session through a server side programming. This advanced navigation provides web-based online services while referencing the electronic documents in use, both local and remote. To allow communicating this information through the web, an XML/DT...

A Tag-Like, Linked Navigation Approach for Retrieval and Discovery of Desktop Documents

Computer systems provide users with abilities to create, organize, store and access information. Most of this information is in the form of documents in files organized in the hierarchical folder structures provided by operating systems. Operating system-provided access is mainly through structure-guided navigation, and through keyword search. An investigation with regard to access and utilizat...

Modeling Zooming and Scrolling Behavior in Very Large Documents

Navigation of very large documents has not been previously well explored. Commonly employed aggregated measures of performance do not provide insight into the choices implicit in a navigation task, nor into how these choices ultimately affect performance. Thus, they support understanding of the aggregates, but not the constituent elements. We present a descriptive performance model of zooming a...

Software Visualisation in a Language Based Editor

Abstract visualisation of software documents is a powerful tool for software comprehension. A good software visualisation tool should provide the user with the flexibility to define new visualisations as they are required and powerful navigation facilities within visualisations that convey the structures and relationships inherent in the underlying software documents. We argue that software vis...
